As a boy, I spent my summers on my grandparents' dairy farm in Upstate New York — one of the largest in the region. I learned to plant, grow, and harvest crops. I learned to raise animals. I learned to preserve food for winter, to fix what was broken, and to find peace in the rhythm of the land.
Those summers gave me something no classroom ever could — a sense of self-sufficiency, purpose, and belonging. I want to give that same gift to every person who walks out of our detox program. Not just sobriety. A life worth living.
After completing our 14-day detox program, graduates are offered the opportunity to join one of our partner farms located across the country. Housing is provided on-site. No rent. No pressure. Just time, space, and community to heal and grow.
Participants learn real, lasting life skills — growing food, raising animals, preserving harvests — and rediscover what it means to contribute, belong, and thrive in a wholesome environment surrounded by nature.
Recovery doesn't end at detox. The land teaches what no clinic can.
From seed to harvest, participants learn to plant vegetables, fruits, and grains — building patience, discipline, and the profound satisfaction of feeding yourself and others.
Learning to care for livestock — cattle, chickens, goats — builds responsibility, empathy, and a daily sense of purpose. Animals don't judge. They just need you to show up.
Canning, curing, drying, and storing food for the seasons ahead. Ancient skills that create self-reliance, reduce anxiety, and connect participants to something larger than themselves.
Live, work, and heal alongside others on the same journey. Shared meals, shared labor, and shared mornings watching the sun rise over the fields — this is what recovery looks like.
"The soil doesn't care where you've been. It only cares what you do today. That's the lesson I want every graduate to learn — you can always start again."— The Founder, Dr. AmericaCare
The Tranquility Recovery Farm program is open to all graduates of the DrAmeriCare 14-day detox. Housing, food, community, and purpose — all provided, all free.
